Maintaining cleanliness and proper hygiene is the very basic step to reduction, control and prevention of acne. There are many medicines and ointments readily available in the market nowadays for controlling and preventing acne. The treatment of acne comes under various branches of medicine such as natural herbal treatments, ayurvedic, surgical procedure etc. Apart from these a proper diet is also good in treating acne.
According to Ayurveda, acne are the papules resembling the sprout on the bark of ‘Shalmali ‘ tree, appears on the face in adolescents. Increased ‘kapha and vata dosha’ and ‘rakta and meda dhatu ‘ are involved in causing this disease.
According to Ayurveda most important contributory factors in this condition is diet. Improper dietary habits may lead to acne or yavanapidika.
- The paste of masurdal (lentil) with curd and a few drops of neem oil, if applied on the face will bestow you a good complexion and will cure acne. Or,
- Make the paste of haridra and chandana and apply it on your face.
- Make the paste of lodhra, dhanyaka and vacha with water and then apply it on your face.
Leave all the above-mentioned local applications on the face for about twenty minutes (till it dries) and then wash your face with luke-warm water.
A variety of herbs are used for acne treatment which are very powerful and effective. Tea tree oil, Liquorice root extract, Green tea extract, Natural Aloe-Vera, Olive leaves, Yellow Dock are extremely good for reducing acne. These herbal extracts are also very helpful in relieving stress and anxiety.
Surgical procedure might be only the last resort, but it is in fact safe and effective. Surgical treatments may be the only option left to overcome it in severe cases of acne like cysts. Dermabrasion and microdermabration, Punch excision and punch elevation, Laser acne treatments are some of the surgical methods in practice. Some of these surgical treatment are painful whereas some of them are not painful at all.
Ingesting dairy foods, substantial sugar and fat articles food items as mentioned earlier disturbs the hormone harmony. Meals which can be an excellent source of glucose could cause a trigger in the manufacturing of the body’s hormones that may promote too much oils production.
Often teen acne is considered as just a phase and is not treated. However, proper treatments during the very first stage of acne results in the reduction of acne all through the teenage years. It affects mostly the skin over the face, the upper part of the chest and the back.
